Emre Demir


Emre Demir was born in 1980 in Yalova, a city in north-western Turkey, and began taking oud lessons and singing from an early age. After finishing school, he studied music at the Müjdat Gezen Art Centre and then at the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory of Turkish Music, where his teachers included Selehattin İçli, Erol Sayan and Mutlu Torun. He also took oud lessons with Osman Nuri Özpekel and Mehmet Bitmez, and was a member of several different Turkish music choruses. Demir has performed in many European countries, as well as the USA and North Africa, and he currently lives in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul.
