Nuri Karademirli


Nuri Karademirli was born in 1950 in İzmir, Turkey and began playing the oud at the age of five. In 1969 he moved to Berlin, Germany, where as well as giving concert performancess, he also worked as a composer, choirmaster and conductor. In 1998 he founded the Conservatory for Turkish Music in Berlin, where he taught oud, bağlama, kanun, tanbur and darbuka. He also lectured at the Berlin University of Arts and was co-founder and chairman of the Society for Turkish Music in the same city. Nuri Karademirli sadly passed away in 2013.
