Burak Kaynarca


Burak Kaynarca was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1978. At the age of nine he began to take music and oud lessons with Emin Sefâ Sağbaş, a member of the Ankara Turkish Classical Music Chorus. He studied with Sağbaşfor nine years before entering Selçuk University State Conservatory in 1996. Alongside this he took private oud lessons with Mehmet Uçak, Necati Çelik and Cinucen Tanrıkorur. After graduating in 2001, Kayncara was appointed as an oud instructor at the Afyon Kocatepe University State Conservatory in Afyonkarahisar, where he also studied for a Master's degree. Two years later he was appointed head of the University's Turkish Classical Music Department and he also served as co-director of the State Conservatory there between 2004 and 2007. He has contributed to several recordings of Turkish classical music, most notably the CD 'Sufi Music from Turkey' as part of an ensemble.
