Saif Al-Khayyat
سيف الخياط


Saif Al-Khayyat was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1977 and went on to study oud at the city's Institute of Musical Studies from 1992 until 1998 under such notable players as Rawhi Al-Khammash, Sami Naseem and Salem Abdul Karem. While at the Institute he played as a soloist with the 'Amasi Al Sharq' orchestra and composed songs for church choirs. In 1999 he left Iraq for Germany, where he began to broaden his musical horizons, founding the oriental jazz ensemble 'Ho-Jazz' in Leipzig and participating in several festivals.
