ناصر موسى

Naser Musa is of Palestinian extraction and was born in Jordan. He began playing the oud at an early age while living in the capital, Amman, and in 1982 he moved to the United States to study music at California Polytechnic University in Pomona. His objective became to combine traditional Arabic music with Western elements, in order to present a style of Arabic music that could be appreciated by a Western audience. He has toured the USA, South America and the Middle East, and has recently perfomed worldwide with the Persian band 'Niyaz' and the singer Azam Ali. He also performs regularly with ethnomusicologists, Dr Ali Jihad Racy and Dr Scott Marcus, of the University of California. Naser has been part of the faculty of the Middle Eastern Music and Dance Camp in Mendocino, California since 1999, and the Heartland Seminar of Arabic Music in Racine, Milwaukee since 2004.
