Tahmoures Pournazeri

Tahmoures Pournazeri was born in Iran, and is the son of the well-known Iranian musician Kaykhosro Pournazeri, founder of the Shams Ensemble. This group, which includes Tahmoures and his brother Sohrab, was established in 1977 to revitalise traditional Persian music and musical instruments. Tahmoures himself plays a variety of instruments including the tar, setar, dotar and daf as well the oud. He has worked with a wide range of artists, including jazz, Indian and classical musicans, and is a regular performer in the United States as well as in his native Iran.
